KATY PINKE PRESS KIT
Bio
Drawing from a background in theater and painting, Katy Pinke’s music is deeply introspective and texturally rich. On her 2024 debut album (produced by Phil Weinrobe – Big Thief, Hand Habits), the New York singer-songwriter’s nimble soprano recalls the precision, humor, and melancholy of forbearers like The Roches and Connie Converse. Strange Behavior, her follow-up record (2025) has drawn comparisons to Aldous Harding, Julia Holter, and Suzanne Vega. Pinke often incorporates art and puppetry into her performances, offering an immersive and multi-sensory set. Live, she’s shared the stage with Laura Veirs, Jolie Holland, Joanna Sternberg, Kyp Malone (TV On the Radio), Diane Cluck, Jesse Harris, and many others.

“Sometimes, a debut comes along with charm and wit and an up-close-and-personal style that almost sounds like you’re sitting right there with the musicians, experiencing the creation of something unique and special…the quality of [Pinke’s] voice and the songs it sings bear the burden of a musician and songwriter with a wealth of talent and experience”
- POP Matters 2024
“Strange Behavior [her sophomore album] sees Pinke continuing to match clever, often disarming words with a musical style that seems to embrace pop and folk but always keeps a healthy dose of odd, experimental touches handy – like pop music beamed in from a not-so-distant planet—a thrilling journey into the mind of a songwriter and musician who is delightfully restless.”
- POP Matters 2025
“Katy Pinke – an exceptional songwriter in her own right – has…absolutely nailed it…you could come to Patterns [her covers album] without knowing any of these songs, and it would still be an entrancing and rewarding listen.”

“Most Anticipated Albums of 2025” -Stereogum 2025
“The opening act … was a New York-based singer-songwriter I hadn’t heard before: Katy Pinke, whose spindly guitar playing, angular melodies and fixed gaze kept the audience rapt. She just released an album, Strange Behavior, which shows off her unique songwriting perspective, though I’m particularly enchanted with the way her poised, airy falsetto dances across this cover of a tune penned by the jazz musician Blossom Dearie.”
“Katy Pinke lanza hoy 'Syzygy', esta melodía folk de corte minimalista combina la melancolía con imágenes surrealistas. Pinke equilibra la inquietante calidad de la letra con su inconfundible entrega desenfadada. Según la propia artista, la canción habla del dolor de no saber cuándo el sufrimiento se desvanecerá, y de aceptar que ese proceso no se puede controlar.”
